Enterprise Linux Computing News & Information.

Integration of gallery2 (photo album stuff) has been completed, and now the process of migrating the pictures has begun. So far, so good... You can go to the Photo Gallery to view them.

Update (8/22) I've completed adding trip photos for Banff (lake Louise, Sunshine, Kicking Horse), Lake Tahoe (Heavenly, Sierra, Kirkwood) and Whistler/Blackcomb. Eventually, I'll need to go back and rescan the Whislter prints to get some better resolution (they pre-date my purchase of a digital camera).

Well, we're back on track and committed to getting this site ready. Yesterday, the task of upgrading drupal to 5.x was completed and integration of the Gallery2 photo album modules began. The goal is the get this site hammered together and then convert www.linuxsoup.com to a similar setup. Shouldn't be long.

In summary: One, in general wireless network/gateway devices still suck at the very fundamental jobs they're meant for. Two, Firmware upgrades fix one thing and break four. Three, if it ain't broke ...

Last week was rather busy, so no major changes here. However, there are some more feeds and categories being collected.

That was easy enough! The RSS News feeds for serveral sites (Slashdot, LWN, CNN, Reuters, etc...) have been added. The front page will display headlines from slashdot & lwn, where-as all the headlines are indexed in the news aggregator.

So far, I'm impressed with Drupal's capabilities. My next project will be to transfer my old content from linuxsoup and then begin working on the photo albums...

Since I'm too busy with family & work life, I no longer have time to work on my web-portal software 'Ladle'. Plus, there are great community efforts which clearly trump any work I did in many areas. Although, my xml and css integration was pretty cool IMHO.

In any case, I've elected to move linuxsoup.com over to drupal and this blog entry represents the first post under the new regime. I will slowly port my pre-existing content over and we should see this site start to grow again.
